The livestream worship broadcast begins Sunday mornings a little before 11:00 am and is saved online afterward. (If there is ever a livestreaming problem, check our YouTube page HERE and our Facebook page HERE.)

WELCOME TO WORSHIP!

Meditation Thought for Worship: It’s hard to make connections with people who are different from us. But if we can speak from our hearts to their hearts, that’s when wonderful transformation happens, for them and us. And that is the miracle of Pentecost. Even though our natural inclination is to stay inside doing what’s comfortable, God’s Holy Spirit wants to push us out and help us connect with all kinds of people who need to hear the good news of God’s love.

What’s it like on the step you’re at now, and what is God’s love like in this stage of your life?

WELCOME TO WORSHIP!

Meditation Thought for Worship: In order to be our best in life, we need to be intentional about growing and maturing in our faith. Much like with plants, for us to grow stronger, sometimes pruning needs to happen. But it’s a sign that we are growing, and it will help our lives to be more fruitful. So don’t let yourself wither, but seek the connection to true life that God offers.

WELCOME TO WORSHIP!

Meditation Thought for Worship: There are so many voices today shouting for our attention that it’s easy to get distracted or fooled into listening to a bad voice, someone who’s just in it for themselves. So always listen hard to discern Jesus’ compassionate voice. It might not be as enticing, since it’s a voice of sacrifice instead of power, but it will lead you to abundant eternal life.

WELCOME TO WORSHIP!

Meditation Thought for Worship: How do we react when we hear surprising news? If we don’t like it, it’s tempting to pretend it isn’t true or deny that it’s real. It’s a lot easier to only hear and believe things we like. But life doesn’t work like that. And sometimes, the surprising things that happen can shake us up in helpful ways. How is God shaking you in ways that might not be welcome, but might get you moving on the path of new life?

WELCOME TO WORSHIP!

Meditation thought for worship: How will you respond to resurrection? We’re so used to having a mindset of death that the possibility of new life is hard to comprehend sometimes. We might need a minute to process with others, or we might just need to cry by ourselves a while. Either way, with Jesus, resurrection is always there. New life is always available to us.

WELCOME TO WORSHIP!

Meditation thought for worship: When our relationship with God is based on a shallow sense of what we can get out of it, then it becomes self-serving to our own desires. Instead, it should be God-serving. So are you praising God to get what you want, or are you praising God because you’re ready to serve and spread grace?

WELCOME TO WORSHIP!

Meditation Thought for Worship: We’re supposed to always be growing. But it’s tempting to try and keep things the way they are: comfortable and familiar. That won’t take us very far in life, but if we can let go and let God use us to help build the kingdom of heaven, then instead of being like a little seed, God will grow is into a grand tree that continues to produce fruit.

WELCOME TO WORSHIP!

Meditation Thought for Worship: Since we’re all imperfect people, we all make mistakes. Instead of admitting that, we’re tempted to hide our mistakes and shortcomings, hoping no one will see. But the Way of Jesus calls us to step out of hiding ourselves in the dark and to fully step into the light of love. In God’s light we find total forgiveness and total welcome, as we are set free.

WELCOME TO WORSHIP!

Meditation Thought for Worship: It’s human nature to focus on outer appearance, but Jesus wants us to be more substantive. Like 1 Samuel 16:7 says, “The Lord does not look at the things people look at.
People look at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.” So how can you develop a more substantive faith in your heart?

WELCOME TO WORSHIP!

Meditation Thought for Worship: The new life God offers us through resurrection is so important, we should prepare for it so that we’re ready to live as Easter people. What clutter is in your heart that taints your vision or attitude? What clutter is in your life that distracts you from joy and abundance? Take all those things and give them to the Lord as an offering of sacrifice.

Middle School Snack Food Donation Drive

Thank you to everyone who donated warm winter items for our most recent “Share the Warmth” donation drive for North Buncombe Middle School. We collected over two extra-large trash bags full of socks, gloves, scarves, hats, sweaters, and blankets.

Now we have been asked to collect more needed items for students at the school. Their snack closet is running low and they are seeking donations of small bags of popcorn, Gold Fish, and other chips as well as fruit snacks etc. (We've been told they do have plenty of Pop-Tarts and do not need more of those). Other quick and easy donations like gum, candy, and even Arizona Iced Teas are also welcome additions. A bin will be outside the elevator on the first floor at the Fellowship Hall for your donations. Thank you so much for your continued love and support for the children in our community.

Weekly Bible Study – Spiritual Discernment, part 6 (areas of focus)

In our last session of spiritual discernment together, we focus on three areas of action and split into groups for each one. The areas of focus that have risen to the surface in our conversations have been: Community Connections, Youth & Children, and Music. How can our church take the next faithful steps in each of those areas?

Ash Wednesday Worship – Wednesday, Feb. 14, 6:00 pm

It's hard to believe, but the time to prepare for Easter is soon upon us. Much like Advent is a time to get ready for Christmas, the time to get ready for Easter is Lent. It is focused on prayer, repentance, and self-reflection. We'll begin our preparation for Easter with an Ash Wednesday worship service February 14 at 6:00 pm in the Fellowship Hall. It will be an opportunity to be still, listen for God, and hear a reminder of humility. All are invited to come worship.
