Pastor's Sabbatical
Pastor Stuart has arrived in Innerleithen and has walked 211.42 miles so far!
I don't like taking out my phone in the pouring rain, but this was so fascinating. In the absolute middle of nowhere, atop a little (muddy) hill. I don't know how it got there, but I'm guessing fairies.
I walked 61 of the 96 miles of the West Highland Way. This is where it starts, in Milngavie. Some of the most glorious landscapes ever. But a truly maddening level of mud and wind and elevation. If I never set foot on it again, I'm fine with that.
Since I'm walking all day for my pilgrimage, I'm always hungry. So when I sit down to eat, it's like prison mealtime rules: I'm hunched over, guarding my plate as I hoover it all up.
(Full Scottish Breakfast, for the win.)
Walking through Scotland is like walking in a Thomas Kinkade painting. This is just the bridge house on the Mauldslie Estate. The actual castle was deeper into the estate but was demolished in the 1930s.
It was a showdown! Me and the sheep were playing chicken.
(They won, since it was like 50 to 1. )
