Gathering Music
J.S. Bach’s music expresses a wide range of emotions. Here are two pieces on opposite ends of the emotional range. The first, the Three-part Invention No. 9 in F minor, BWV 795, is a dirge that uses a common melodic move in Baroque music that signifies sadness: the descending chromatic melody. Then the second, the Gavotte from the French Suite No.5 in G, BWV 816, is kind of happy and frisky.
