Stuart started growing up in Louisiana, where is family is from, then moved to Nashville at age 9. He graduated from Rhodes College in Memphis, TN, with a major in history and minor in religion, and then from the Baptist Theological Seminary at Richmond (BTSR) for his Master’s of Divinity degree. In seminary he met his wife, Sara. Stuart has done social work in Knoxville, been an editor of Bible study curriculum at Smyth & Helwys Publishing, and pastored a church in Louisburg, NC. Stuart & Sara have two fun boys and two crazy dogs. He enjoys playing with his sons, running with his dogs, watching movies with his wife, researching family history, reading the news, playing frisbee, and watching soccer from around the world.
Stuart is currently working on his Doctor of Ministry degree from Campbell University Divinity School. His ministry interests include social justice issues, engaging the Bible, family systems theory, creation care, being curious, and the intersection of faith & culture. email@example.com
Mrs. Jane McCoy, Minister of Music
Jane has served as Minister of Music at First Baptist since 1999. She is also Voice Instructor at Warren-Wilson College and a faculty member at her alma mater, Mars Hill University. She earned her master's at the University of Colorado at Boulder. Jane performs regularly throughout the community. She says, "It is the joy of my heart to be singing, teaching, and directing others in using their God-given talents." Mrs. Joy Sprinkle, Administrative Assistant
Joy has served First Baptist since 1994. She feels grateful to be a part of at FBC. In addition to all she does at FBC, Joy is also a preacher's wife. Her husband, Danny, is pastor of East Black Mountain Free Will Baptist. Joy enjoys music, reading, and her family. She and Danny, have two daughters, Jessica and Emily; by the end of 2017, they will have two sons and law as well. email@example.com
Mrs. Cindy Benton, Pianist
Cindy has been accompanying hymns and choir specials at First Baptist since 2014. A recently retired high school chorus teacher, Cindy enjoys participating in many different aspects of music ministry here at FBC. She and her husband Gordon have one son Luke. Sandra Buckner, Custodian
Sandra has been with First Baptist since September 2010. In addition to keeping the church spotless (a feat by itself), she helps out with the ministry of the senior meal site that meets in the church fellowship hall on Monday-Friday. Sandra's hobbies include crafts, gardening, and baking for her family, friends, and neighbors. She is married to Alan, the love of her life, and has one son, Jeffrey. email@example.com
Dr. David Crocker, Interim Pastor
David began his ministry at FBCW on Sunday, May 28, 2017. Prior to coming to us, David served nearly 30 years as a pastor in various church settings. Additionally, he is the founder of Operation Inasmuch. David received his MDiv and DMin from the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary and his BA from Belmont University.
