First Baptist Church Choral Scholarship Program
The Music Ministry of FBC, Weaverville, will offer one choral scholarship for a student enrolled in a degree program at an area college or university. The amount for the school year 2017-2018 will be $1,500. The Choral Scholar will sing in the Adult Choir, rehearsing each Wednesday night (7:15-8:30pm) and singing in worship on Sunday morning (10:45-12noon). The student will be allowed absences for required college events and school breaks. There may be 1-2 special evening responsibilities for the Adult Choir as well.
The Choral Scholar program allows student musicians the opportunity to participate in the ministry of the local church and to experience close-up the planning, preparation and performance of a variety of sacred music. Students are invited to be involved in other phases of music ministry such as handbells and children’s choir as well as other ministries of the church such as Bible study, outreach, missions, etc. The church family will support the Choral Scholar with their encouragement, friendship and prayers. They will also provide fellowship around the table on Wednesday night (Family Night Supper), Lunch Bunch (Sundays) and other special occasions.
The 2017-2018 FBCW Choral Scholar is Anna Ray, a Weaverville native in her second year at ABTech.
