"Let the word of Christ dwell in your richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom, and as you sing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God."  (Colossians 3:16)

The Music Ministry of First Baptist Church, Weaverville, seeks to praise God through the gift of music.  Choirs and instrumentalists offer a variety of selections ranging from classical to gospel to bluegrass.  A graded choir program gives all ages an opportunity to learn about music and to grow in their musicianship.

Adult Choir (ages 16-99) rehearses Wednesdays, 7:15-8:30 pm.

Children's Choir (grades 1-6) rehearses Wednesdays, 5:00-5:45pm (school year). Check out the children's 2015 Christmas musical presentation, The First Leon!

Children's Handbells (grades 3-6) rehearse Wednesdays 4:00-4:30pm (school year).

Adult-Youth Handbells (grade 7-adult) rehearse Sundays 4:45-5:45 (school year).

Choral Scholar Ministry

The Music Ministry of FBC, Weaverville offers one choral scholarship per academic year for a student enrolled in a degree program at an area college or university.  The Choral Scholar sings in the Adult Choir, rehearsing each Wednesday night and singing in worship on Sunday mornings as well as in special services.  This program allows student musicians the opportunity to participate in the ministry of the local church and to experience up-close the planning, preparation and performance of a variety of sacred music.  Students are invited to be involved in other phases of music ministry such as handbells and children’s choir and other ministries of the church such as Bible study, outreach, missions, and more.

For more information about how you can support this wonderful program or for how you can apply, please send an email to info@fbcwvl.org.

We are pleased to have Jordan Efird, a Mars Hill University junior, as our 2016-2017 Choral Scholar.
